Review of the 2010 GMC Canyon

2010 Canyon

Introduction
GMC Canyon is a compact pickup truck sharing a basic design with the Chevrolet Colorado. The Canyon is a nice vehicle for those whose towing needs are not extremely heavy; yet, it can more than fill the purpose of a mid-size truck. The 2010 GMC Canyon pickup includes standard head curtain side air bags on all models, three new exterior colors and an expansion of the ZQ8 Sport Suspension package to a greater variety of models and equipment groups. It is available with 2WD or 4WD configuration in three body styles: 3-passenger regular cab, 5-passenger extended cab and 6-passenger crew cab (Work Truck, SLE-1 and SLT).

Exterior Design and Special Features
The 2010 GMC Canyon is offered in a wide variety of body styles and trim configurations. The two-door Regular Cab seats up to three passengers. Extended Cabs have rear-hinged back doors and seat up to five with two rear jump seats. Crew Cabs have four conventional doors and seat up to six with a folding rear bench. Chrome bumpers, daytime running lamps, fog lamps, solar-ray deep tinted glass, and pickup box are standard exterior features across the board. The interior facilities include front manual air conditioning, cruise control, driver information center, leather wrapped steering wheel, and AM/FM stereo system. Power adjustable, heated leather appointed bucket seats; a power convenience package; and a sunroof are some available optional convenience features.

Engine
The 2010 GMC Canyon has three powerful engine options including a V8 engine. A 2.9-liter, inline, four-cylinder engine produces 185-horsepower; and the more powerful 3.7-liter, inline, five-cylinder engine delivers 242-horsepower. A 300-hp 5.3-liter V8 engine (Flexi fuel) is available on Extended and Crew Cab models. The transmission choice comprises a five-speed manual with overdrive and a four-speed automatic transmission, electronically controlled with overdrive. A pair of suspension choices is available: the rugged standard Z85 suspension and the Z71 off-road suspension, available in 2WD and 4WD. The EPA estimated fuel economy estimates begin at 18 mpg city/24 mpg highway for 2WD models with the 2.9-liter engine while the top-of-the-line V8-powered crew cabs yield 14/19.

Safety
Dual stage front airbags are standard on the 2010 GMC Canyon, while head protecting curtain airbags are available. The other safety features include four-wheel anti-lock brakes, LATCH, daytime running lights and ignition disable. Also, OnStar, 1-year of Safe and Sound plan which includes Automatic Crash Notification, Automatic Notification of Air Bag Deployment, Stolen Vehicle Location Assistance, a link to all Emergency Services, Roadside Assistance, Remote Door Unlock (if equipped), OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics, Hands-Free Calling and Remote Horn and Lights is standard.
